Oral Health Access
Oral Health Access is a school‑based oral health program focused on preventing dental disease. Care is provided at school for all students, regardless of income or insurance. There is no cost to the child or family, but Medicaid/CHIP will be billed when eligible. Each enrolled child receives an oral health assessment and preventive services from a dental hygienist. Any restorative needs will be referred to the child’s dental home or a partnering community clinic. Enrolled children may receive one or more of the following: Dental sealants: A thin protective coating placed on the chewing surfaces of back teeth to help prevent cavities. Dental x‑rays: Images that show areas not visible during an exam and help identify cavities or infections. Dental cleaning: Removes buildup on teeth and includes education on home care. Fluoride varnish: Strengthens teeth and helps prevent decay. Silver Diamine Remineralization Treatment: A solution applied to cavities to stop decay from progressing. It may darken the affected area but helps protect the tooth from further damage.
